If you fancy a trip to the seaside, journey to Belle Maison as we did. Located in the trendy 9th arrondissement, at Rue du Navarin, Franck Baranger, restaurateur from Pantruche and Caillebotte, along side Andrew Frost opened a neo-bistro for all seafood lovers alike. Emilie Bonaventure takes us into walls colored blue with geometric motifs, two floors simply decorated yet exuding an air of actuality and spontaneity. The perfect lunch spot to take my friend who is visiting from the US.
Boulots de Normandie, Moules, Huitres, Mulet noire, Saint Jacques…a Lunch Menu at 14 Euros. We ordered the grilled octopus to share, and than the fish of the day and to top it off Vanilla ice cream with kiwi and deconstructed cookies … and an espresso before heading out for a quick tour at Rue des Martyrs.

Chef Lucas Felzine (taught at l’arpège, and ex second at Ze Kitchen) refined take on fusion cooking, translates to exotic flavors with the Rascasse ceviche, perfectely grilled meat with a choice of polenta or quinoa risotto and a jasmine and litchi millefeuille. The opening of David Toutain in 2013, was clearly anticipated, due to the reputation of a prodigy he cultivated at the kitchen of Agapé Substance. Located in les environs of champs de mars, one might expect a touch of “snobisme”, on the contrary the minimal design & earthly colors set off a casual and unpretentious impression. Vegetables are at the centerpiece of Toutain’s cooking; the carte blanche menu offers 4-6 creations, meticulously crafted, striking a balance of textures and subtle flavors.
