If you fancy a trip to the seaside, journey to Belle Maison as we did. Located in the trendy 9th arrondissement, at Rue du Navarin, Franck Baranger, restaurateur from Pantruche and Caillebotte, along side Andrew Frost opened a neo-bistro for all seafood lovers alike. Emilie Bonaventure takes us into walls colored blue with geometric motifs, two floors simply decorated yet exuding an air of actuality and spontaneity. The perfect lunch spot to take my friend who is visiting from the US.
Boulots de Normandie, Moules, Huitres, Mulet noire, Saint Jacques…a Lunch Menu at 14 Euros. We ordered the grilled octopus to share, and than the fish of the day and to top it off Vanilla ice cream with kiwi and deconstructed cookies … and an espresso before heading out for a quick tour at Rue des Martyrs.
Belle Maison found the winning formula: fresh products with prices aligned to the neighborhood. Oh c’est si bon!

Revamped by Architect and interior designer Lola Gonzalez, in late 2015, the former cabaret has a fresh look that inspires most. Elegant and poetic, plants take centerpiece giving it a garden appearance, a meeting of the finest handicrafts; marble, brass, terrazzo, straw and wood…large banquets and tables, a large house with an encircling balcony, a coveted cocktail bar.
A modern take on dishes by Guillaume Lutard; “Poached organic egg, mushrooms, liver” “roasted wild cod, braised fennel”, “filet de canette de challans roasted with honey and ginger, figs, butternut and sweet potato” and “Pavlova, passion fruit.” A refined cuisine with worldly touches.
And the transition continues upstairs at the cocktail bar, a delightful surprise !

In the bohemian chic 10th arrondissement, tucked behind “ la porte saint martin”, on a provincial square, Pierre Moussie opened the much-anticipated Hotel Providence with its 18 rooms spread over the six floors, completely restored by Philipe Medioni. Preserving the original structure of 1854 building, the style is very warm, with plenty of Parisian velvet (House of Hackney), palm patterns, carpet inspired designs by Madeleine Castaing, and fixtures signed Hugues Rambert. We find here and there borrowings of 1950’s furniture, a bohemian chic spirit in the Mini Room, elegance & eccentricity in the Superior rooms and a superb suite with a spectacular view of Montmartre.
Each room is equipped with a cocktail bar, if you fancy making your own mix (recipes at hand), or head downstairs to the restaurant & bar area where a bartender will be delighted to serve you one. On sunny days, take a seat at the terrace for a nibble or coffee and mingle with the Parisian creatives!

In the heart of Paris in the 2nd arrondissement, a historic neighborhood known for textile and clothing manufacturing, Hotel Edgar preserves a charm of a building full of stories. Overlooking a tree-lined square, the boutique hotel offers an artistic escape for the busying streets of Paris.
Decorated by a group of “artists, photographers, graphic designers, stylists”, each room carries a story, finely crafted in the choices of wall colors, furniture and decor. The opening of David Toutain in 2013, was clearly anticipated, due to the reputation of a prodigy he cultivated at the kitchen of Agapé Substance. Located in les environs of champs de mars, one might expect a touch of “snobisme”, on the contrary the minimal design & earthly colors set off a casual and unpretentious impression. Vegetables are at the centerpiece of Toutain’s cooking; the carte blanche menu offers 4-6 creations, meticulously crafted, striking a balance of textures and subtle flavors. For a complete tasting, wine pairing is also at the rendez-vous, making it an exclusive culinary experience worth every penny.
